We cater for the social pilots who want to fly for fun safely, and do their own thing paragliding or paramotoring - get away, stress out at a great paragliding destination and just do it all in a beautiful mountain area with excellent accommodation and recreation alternatives at reasonable prices (unbelievable value for tourists). Also Winch flying and conversion courses at Dunnoter just outside Johannesburg.
We conduct courses and tours for beginners to intermediate pilot levels and offer a wide selection of quality equipment, supported by local and international suppliers.
Only 2.5 hours by road from the Johannesburg office, you'll discover probably the finest training and thermic flying sites in South Africa at Wakkerstroom on the Mpumalanga / KwaZulu Natal-border great flying in a beautiful undiscovered major paragliding destination!
Easy road access to the training and main flying sites are only within 15 minutes by vehicle of each other - also malaria free!
Our own site is the magnificent bowl shaped north facing Inyoni, with 4 km of soaring ridge 800ft above the pickup point with peaks rising a further 500ft above the main ridge overlooking thermic producing valleys stretching into the distance below. Launch way to cloud base!
The Ossawa above the small town of Wakkerstroom has just been opened up with a new access road to the top - offering three directions to launch from west, north and east at 1250ft.
There is a variety of accommodation to choose from in and around Wakkerstroom from self catering cottages to recommended guest houses or a Country Lodge which provides accommodation, excellent meals and two pubs! We'll soon offer camping right the way through to chalets - see below - in any case take the first step to a new experience.
Just released on DVD is the official Motorised Paramotor Tour of Malaysia 2003 - 42 pilots from around the world participated in two weeks of flying Malaysian coastlines, swamps, jungle and the last ever flights through the Patronas Twin Towers!
Paragliding Afrika was responsiable for commissioning the professional filming and production of the tour.
Gordon Hiles, a professional adventure film maker has produced a stunning film (50mins) which will be broadcast on TV 6th January 2004 on KykNet in South Africa at 8pm in Afrikaans. The modified English version with additional footage (1 hour) is available in DVD immediately , directly from mwseacam@mweb.co.za at a bargain rate R250.00 including postage.
